Oh hey. I'm Jocelyn. I do hair.
I began hairstyling after three years as a magazine editor, where I learned sitting at a desk all day is basically my worst nightmare. What started out as a haphazard career change has become a passion project that has truly enriched my life.
Why hair? The skill and artistry of hairdressing is ever-evolving and always exciting. It's creative, challenging, fast-paced and fun. I get to meet and bond with so many different types of people, many of whom have become great friends. Not to mention, as someone who has had her fair share of bad haircuts, there is nothing more satisfying than a happy client leaving my chair. Simply put, I love to help people love their hair.
I completed my initial training in 2011 at the Vancouver Hairdressing Academy, and have continued to advance my education with Vidal Sassoon, Aveda, Kevin Murphy and other independent educators.
I love haircutting, and specialize in short hair, bobs of all kinds, scissor fades and soft, long layering. My style is definitely classic with more than occasional 70s vibes, but your vision is just as important as mine. Listening is a key part of my job, and I work to give you hair that will work for you.
I love playing with colour as well! While I adore bright beachy blondes and rich warm brunettes, I also like working with soft, complementary tones to achieve blended, dimensional hair. My philosophy is to seamlessly work colour into your natural base whenever possible in order to increase longevity and decrease long-term costs. I also have a knack for creating "natural" blondes and redheads.
When I'm not behind the chair, I'm usually riding my beloved bike Harold, hunting for vinyl, listening to podcasts, drinking wine, writing or cooking. And, a true sun-worshipper and travel junkie, I tend to spend a lot of time chilling on the beach, planning my next adventure or both at the same time.
Let's hang out! Drop me a line or book an appointment with me at Punch Studio. I'd love to meet you!
